Student’s Film about Margaret Market Wins 3rd Prize at Film Festival!

Published on : November 22, 2024

Hearty congratulations to a group of students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communications (WKWSCI), NTU Singapore!  These talented 5 filmmakers clinched the third prize at the AHA Film Festival (Architectural Heritage Awards), for their short documentary on Queesntown’s favourite Block 38 Market, now known as Margaret Drive Marketplace.

Using interviews with a Queenstown resident, a tour guide for MyQueenstown, the architect from the restoration, and the Executive Director of Margaret Drive Marketplace, these filmmakers tell the story of the birth and restoration of this cultural and architectural icon.  You will see nostalgic photos from years gone by, a description of the architecture, development of the restoration project, as well as the present-day reinvention of our beloved & uniquely-shaped market.

You are invited to enjoy this cinematic walk down memory lane — as well as a walk into the new Queenstown — check out “Bringing Life Back to Queenstown — Margaret Drive Marketplace” here:

If you haven’t tried all the food stalls in Margaret Drive Marketplace yet, check out our food reviews of different stalls here.

We would also love to hear your thoughts about the film, the new Margaret Drive Marketplace, as well as your own food reviews! Please do write to us here!
