Have you sighted these birds in Queenstown? The Peregrine Falcons migrate to Singapore between October to March; they were sighted in the Dawson area! The more oft-seen Collard Kingfisher is seen perched on trees along Margaret Drive, near Kay Siang Road.
You may have heard a bird calling out “ooh-woo” across our neighbourhood; this is known as the Asian Koel. It’s a love-hate relationship with this bird! When you see it, you may be surprised at plain they look: all-black body and head, a light-yellow beak, nondescript grey feet and fire-engine red eyes. To see the Asian Koel & hear its call, check it out here.
In contrast, the other birds pictured here are much prettier to look at; and their bird-calls are less piercing.
Please drop us a note in the “Contact Us” form, if you see or photograph any rare, or unusual, bird in Queenstown. We could feature your photo on this website, for all to enjoy!
