These three white birds were spotted at the façade of The Fisherman of Christ Fellowship, by staff of the neighbouring Church of Our Saviour. It was a curious sight! Why would these birds be “hanging out” on the window frame of Fisherman’s building?
It was their acrobatic antics which drew attention. However it was quite difficult to determine the breed of these birds. They certainly are not Yellow-crested, Sulphur-crested, nor Salmon-crested Cockatoos, because these lacked distinctively-coloured feathers on their heads. Also, from the video, it is difficult to identify the bird-call… If it were a Tanimbar Corrella, we would hear a high-pitched “trilling”.
Apparently all cockatoos are parrots, but not all parrots are cockatoos! We found an interesting article about that here. There is also the Singapore Bird Group, under the Nature Society of Singapore. In this article, they listed a few kinds of cockatoos found in Singapore.
So perhaps the birders out there can tell us, what species of bird is photographed here? And what do you think they were doing at the window frame? Please contact us and we would love to follow up on this story.
